Ditewig-Morris lived what she teaches. With a corporate communication management career spanning nearly three decades, she worked as a global communication strategist and manager, business writer and editor, leader and consultant. She helped top executives of organizations articulate and deliver visionary strategies to internal and external audiences. In every position she held, she developed strategic plans, hired and developed employees, managed teams, wrote executive speeches, created materials, and measured outcomes for continuous improvement. Now, as Internship Program Director, Ditewig-Morris develops relationships with organizations to create and promote internship opportunities for Communication majors. She helps undergraduates succeed in these internships as they gain professional experience in real-world workplace settings while simultaneously earning academic credit. She has taught Business Communication, Oral & Written Communication, and Interviewing Principles & Practices. All her students acquire core communication skills in a creative, supportive environment that effectively contextualizes their learning: they learn to hone in their strengths, to navigate successfully in professional situations, to present themselves confidently as individuals and as team members, and to prepare for the competitive work world that awaits. Additionally, Ditewig-Morris is a sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator, presenting material from her courses to a host of departments and entities across campus. Apart from teaching and facilitating, her favorite activity is being involved with the Illinois Promise Scholarship Program as a mentor to a scholarship recipient.
Ditewig-Morris received her B.A. in English, Education, and Speech/Theatre from Bradley University and her M.A. in Communication from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is a member of the Association for Business Communication; the National Association of Colleges and Employers; and the University of Illinois Career Services Council. Additionally, she is a certified 6 Sigma Green Belt and a Master of Organizational Change (LaMarsh model) and is working toward her certification as a Gallup CliftonStrengths coach.
